Mavs look to bounce back in Boston

January 18th, 2010 | by crstuckey |

Well, that’s not the way you want to start a five-game road trip. It was simply a poor effort on the defensive end. The more I watch Chris Bosh, the more I think he would look great in a Mavs uniform. He has good range for a big man to go along with great touch around the rim. It may very well be a pipe dream but there is nothing wrong with having a wish list is there?

The Dallas Cowboys season is now over. What does that mean in Texas? People will actually start paying attention to your Dallas Mavericks. For anyone who is just now turning an eye to basketball in downtown Dallas, here is what you need to know…

Injuries have remained a familiar foe for this season’s squad with Josh Howard, Erick Dampier, Drew Gooden, Quinton Ross, Tim Thomas and Dirk Nowitzki all missing time.

The Mavs are currently in a tie with the Denver Nuggets for second place in the Western Conference, five games behind the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dirk Nowitzki remains underrated on the national level. He is averaging 25.2 points per game and is in the running for MVP.

We have yet to see the best from the Mavs this season…stay tuned.

On to Boston

The Mavs are 10-2 after a loss this season but only 5-6 on the second night of a back-to-back. As the Mavs five-game roadie takes them to Boston tonight, it’s time to bounce back and avoid an 0-2 start to the road trip.

The Celtics have not played since a loss Thursday night to the Bulls. Kevin Garnett will remain sidelined tonight but Rasheed Wallace will be back on the court.

If the Mavs want to steal one in Boston, a few things need to happen…

Shawn Marion needs to keep Paul Pierce in check.
The Mavs need to win the battle of bench points.
Another strong defensive performance from Erick Dampier.

I think that the Mavs will come out with a sour taste in their mouths following the 22-point thumping courtesy of the Raptors. Hopefully, that will lead to an inspired effort on both ends of the court.

I will be watching…will you?

Until next time…

Peace. Be good.
